Website becomes rock star
Question
Rock Werchter is one of Belgium’s biggest festivals, with first edition dating back to 1975.
Over 40 editions later, we got asked to bring Werchter’s unique atmosphere to an online platform. Offering all the necessary information and ensuring sure-fire performance even when the traffic is peaking.

Answer
We worked in an interdisciplinary team of designers and developers to bring the festival vibe to the screen and keep the whole experience seamless and visually pleasing.

Keeping it consistent
Firstly, we translated the new corporate identity manual into a digital style tile. This way we could experiment with colours, fonts and images without losing sight of the original. It also resulted in the idea of working with a dark background to complement the corporate identity colours even better.
Further on, we also adapted site’s content to the digital corporate identity. The homepage is an ultimate source of information. It groups an amalgam of info and updates – from the line-up to feeds from social media channels. Because the digital style tile is implemented throughout, the information remains clear and well-organised. With images, large, high-quality photos in all the right places.

“The site always has to run smoothly, even when the number of visitors peaks. The performance was improved with techniques such as lazy loading, caching and well-considered page transitions.”
